What ModMyFarm never does
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No cookies, no analytics, no ads. Nothing on these pages counts or follows you.
- Your farm is never uploaded: nothing the app sends carries it.
- Nothing is sold, because nothing is collected.
What the map services see
To fetch your farm's ground and roads, the app asks public map services, and ModMyFarm's own copy of OpenStreetMap on Bunny CDN, for the map around your square. Your browser sends your internet address with each request, as it does for any web page. Nothing else about you goes with it. What you type in the search box goes to a public place search.
| For | Asked of |
|---|---|
| Place search | Photon (komoot), or Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) when Photon is busy |
| The street map and the satellite view | OpenStreetMap map tiles; Esri World Imagery and Esri's label layers. While a satellite pass is live, the labels' fonts and icons come from Esri too (basemaps-api.arcgis.com). |
| The satellite pass | ModMyFarm's own small service on Bunny, which keeps its own server logs, when you work on a farm on the satellite view. It gets the app a pass to Esri's pictures, good for 12 hours. Nothing about you or your farm goes with it. |
| The ground | The LiDAR publisher for your country (listed on Credits), or Microsoft Planetary Computer and AWS |
| Roads, buildings and water | ModMyFarm's own copy of OpenStreetMap, on Bunny CDN, which keeps its own server logs; VersaTiles (OpenStreetMap) if that can't be reached; and only if you then press Get tree rows, hedges, fences…, overpass.private.coffee (its privacy policy) |
| Woods and land cover | The Sentinel-2 land cover service (Impact Observatory, Microsoft and Esri); ESA WorldCover from Microsoft Planetary Computer |
| The land past the map's edge | VersaTiles (OpenStreetMap) and ESA WorldCover (Microsoft Planetary Computer) |
| Your farm's region, for land prices | A Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) lookup with the farm's centre, in Check & build |
| Weather and soil | NASA POWER; ISRIC SoilGrids |
| The free blank game map | GitHub, while it builds |
| The example farms you download | Bunny CDN, which keeps its own server logs |
| The pictures, videos and 3D farms on this website | Bunny CDN, which keeps its own server logs |
| This website and the app | GitHub Pages, which keeps its own server logs (GitHub's privacy statement) |
The report form
The Report a problem form is the one place ModMyFarm takes anything from you, and only what you type into it. It sends your words to us (GIS4AG) by email, through Formspree, a form service (Formspree's privacy policy). Your name and email are optional. Your email is used only to answer you. It isn't added to any list or shared with any other business. The form uses no CAPTCHA and sets no cookies.
What stays in your browser
A few notes in your browser's storage, on your computer only. Nothing in them leaves it, except the satellite pass, which goes to Esri with each picture. Clear this site's data in your browser to delete them.
- Your recent farms. Your last 5 farms, saved as you work.
- Your settings. Expert options, the folded toolbar, the note for phones, and how fast your last build ran.
- Map and search answers. Kept for a while, so the same square or search isn't asked for twice.
- The satellite pass. Kept for its 12 hours, so every tab and every reload uses the same one. On a day the satellite view is full, a note that it is, until midnight.
- Pause motion. Whether you pressed it.

File › Save farm file writes a file to your own computer; the ZIP you build downloads the same way.

Links from here to Ditch Assist®, Geo-Surface Pro and TerraZoner carry a short tag that says they came from ModMyFarm. The tag holds nothing about who you are. Each site's own privacy policy says what it collects.
